Greyhound Hall of Fame
Abilene, Kansas
Abilene calls itself "Greyhound Capital of the World." The Hall of Fame has inducted greyhounds since 1963 -- from Rural Rube ("There were those who swear he was almost human.") to Downing (the only greyhound to be the subject of two Sports Illustrated stories) to Molotov (father of more than 7,600 puppies). K's Flak was insured with Lloyds of London for $200,000, and might have been worth still more had his career not been cut short by a calcified toe.
Two retired greyhound racers greet you at the door, and there are exhibits on Greyhound farms, anatomy, and adoption. You can pose with a life-size greyhound statue outside.
