Soldier's Orphanage Dungeon Tour
Gettysburg, Pennsylvania
The empty Soldier's National Museum (closed Nov. 2, 2014) was, in the years following the Civil War, the National Soldier's Orphan Homestead. It held as many as 130 children. Take the tour of the cellar dungeon and see if Johnny, a wax dummy kid, is still there, chained to a wall. Hollywood Square regular Charley Weaver, dead since 1974, narrated the story of Johnny's punishment (He owned the Museum at one time).
This is a popular destination for paranormal investigators. In 2011, cable's Ghost Adventures gang spent the night in the basement goading cruel matron Rosa Carmichael, evil torturer of orphans, to get angry with them.
