Statue of JFK: Going Places
Boston, Massachusetts
A bronze JFK in a business suit is frozen in motion as if jogging out of the Massachusetts Statehouse, toward the steps that lead down to the street. Unveiled in 1990 on what would have been JFK's 73rd birthday, the statue delighted a crowd of thousands that included Teddy, Caroline, JFK Jr, and former First Lady Jackie Kennedy.
JFK's motivation for his energetic sprint -- Late for football with the caucus? Express lunch at a nearby chowder house? Rendezvous with a mistress? -- is left to the viewer's imagination.
