Herman became a mascot only after he was dead. He lived behind the fiberboard walls of a trailer on the outskirts of town, and was discovered only after the trailer was torn down. Herman had gnawed on an extension cord, got in too deep, and electrocuted himself. Now he's the mascot of the Manhattan Bar, on display with the wires still clutched in his mouth.
