Pawn Stars Filming Location
Las Vegas, Nevada
The Gold and Silver Pawn Shop, where the popular reality show Pawn Stars is filmed, has become a tourist destination now more popular than the wedding chapels with which it shares its bit of Las Vegas Boulevard.
A line of people wait to get in. The store has a water mister running to keep the crowd from expiring in the Vegas heat, as well as piped out classic rock. T-shirted Dads lift their toddlers high to get them closer to the mist. A doorman allows new guests only after a like number of old ones leave.
The interior of the place is much smaller than it looks on TV, and a big chunk of the area open to the public is taken up by a gift shop offering various items featuring images of the show's stars like Big Hoss and Chumley. It's a working store, but so full of gawkers that down-on-their-luck gamblers trying to quietly pawn a watch might go elsewhere.
When we visited, none of the on-camera guys were working, but the cases did feature several items that had been appraised on the show. Our favorite was not a Patriots Super Bowl ring or large ninja blade, but a JJ Armes action figure and mobile investigation unit (you can look him up).
Back outside, cabs line up to take you back to the casino, while a food truck waits in the parking lot to take your order.
