S.C. Billboard: Nature's Work of Art
Howes Cave, New York
Originally a coherently-themed -- at least for Secret Caverns -- billboard by Kurt Piller, which featured the Caverns' signature Cool Cave Dude as a stand-in for Leonardo da Vinci's Vitruvian Man. After a couple of years had passed, Todd DelMarter repainted the billboard and turned the Cave Dude into a leafy-faced "green man." "I was, like, that is absolutely brilliant," said Kurt. "It totally works with Secret Caverns and ecotourism; why hadn't I thought of that before?"
Todd said that he had "a bunch of paint left over" at the end of the job, which he then used to paint subliminal images onto the Nature's Work of Art scroll; they include the faces of Ronald Reagan, Richard Nixon, a steaming pile of poop, the sacred burning heart, and a reference to the doomsday planet Nibiru.
