What's the connection between Vikings and bargain rugs? This tall fiberglass Norseman -- maybe 16 feet in height -- has spent most of his existence promoting carpets in the Upper Deerfield Township area. "Erik the Viking" is very lumpy and muscular, clad in a sleeveless tunic and horned helmet.
The Carpet Viking is not a traditional Muffler Man, but an offshoot found in a few other parts of the country, usually as a high school mascot or carpet champion.
Orr's Carpet business was sold in ~2006, and the statue stood on the front lawn of a nearby private home. In 2008, Orr Flooring Center's let us know they bought their mascot and he's back on premises.
