Tiny President Ford
East Grand Rapids, Michigan
Gerald Ford's reign was brief as President (1974-1977) and during a period where the highest office in the land had shriveled and shrunken -- thanks Dick Nixon! This Ford homunculus is perhaps the smallest full-body outdoor statue of a U.S. President. Maybe 18 inches tall, the bronze is atop a miniature pedestal which is atop a real pedestal that's taller than the statue.
The monument was a last-minute (Dec. 28, 2013) honor for the centennial of Gerald Ford's birth year. Sculpted by J. Brett Grill in 2011, it's a scale model of the Ford statues in the U.S. Capitol and outside the Ford Presidential Museum.
