Junk Yard Dog
San Antonio, Texas
In October 2006 artist Bob "Daddy-O" Wade built this goofy cartoon creature for a friend, who set it up on the sidewalk outside his junk yard (Bob was fond of junk yards, which were places where he got a lot of his raw materials). The dog's head and neck are a 1966 Plymouth Fury standing on end; its nose is the hood of a VW Beetle; its tongue is a shaved-down hood of a Cadillac.
Bob's friend later died, and his family sold the junk yard, but its new owner wisely kept Junk Yard Dog. Bob told us that the Dog was "one of my favorite pieces."
