Bonnie and Clyde Hats of Death
Roscoe, Illinois
The death hats of Bonnie and Clyde are only two of many memorable relics displayed at Historic Auto Attractions, a must-see museum. The hats are a well-worn tan fedora for Clyde and a stylish blue sequined cloche for Bonnie. They aren't shot to rags and they don't look bloody, so perhaps they were in the back seat when over 130 bullets tore into the car carrying Bonnie and Clyde, ending their criminal careers. According to the hats' accompanying sign, they were acquired from Clyde's sister.
The museum collection also includes a Bonnie and Clyde Death Car replica, one of several that still turn up in galleries of the grisly. It's an impressive imitation, each bullet pucker and penetration lovingly positioned -- we'd say it's the best one, second only to the original.
Rounding out the museum's Bonnie and Clyde collection is a framed fabric swatch of Clyde's Pants of Death. These were sold in the gift shop at the Bonnie and Clyde Ambush Museum until that museum ran out of pants.
