Airborne and Special Operations Museum
Fayetteville, North Carolina
Takes visitors through the history of airborne and special operations soldiers from 1940 to the present. Has a parachute motion simulator, a recreated Normandy village on D-Day, and a life-size diorama of Rudy Hernandez and his bloody bayonet, surrounded by five dead North Koreans with a sixth about to join them.
Can you spot the nearly invisible desert "hide-site" used during the Persian Gulf War? "Experience the Legend" takes visitors on a Special Ops mission and jolts them with an IED blast, and "Army on the Move" is in a pitch, roll, and yaw Vista-Dome with simulations such as, "Fly over a hostile town blasting away from a helicopter gunship."
