World's Largest Rhubarb
Aledo, Illinois
Aledo calls itself "Rhubarb Capital of Illinois," and in June 2016 it unveiled a 10-foot-tall metal rhubarb -- three big leaves with rhubarb's familiar red stem -- in time for the city's 25th annual Rhubarb Festival. "I want a picture of myself with that leaf," said Aledo's mayor at its dedication. "I want to remember Aledo for something. And if it's rhubarb, then that's great."
Note: if you tried to eat a rhubarb as big as Aledo's, you'd die; the plant is deadly if too much is eaten at once.
