Mel Kenyon, King of the Midget Car Racers (Gone)

Bedford, Indiana

In 2004, driving through Bedford, Indiana, we spotted limestone sculptures of midget cars and drivers along the road. One was labeled "Mel Kenyon," AKA "King of the Midgets," a legendary champion in the niche field of midget auto racing.
