Muffler Man - Sunny the Big Man

This 22-ft. tall Muffler Man stands on an elevated platform along Main Street where he has drawn attention to local businesses since the 1960s.

He is a master of disguise, with a more extensive wardrobe than most of his statue brethren. "Sunny the Big Man" has been known to dress as Santa at Christmas, don a tuxedo during prom season, a cap and bat during baseball season, and support US troops with various flag displays.

The statue stood for years on a platform atop the Western Tire and Appliance store on East Main St., promoted with the line: "The store with the Big Man on top." When the tire business closed in late 2004, Sunny was sold and transported to Sun Glass down Main St., where he received his new name in a contest.

Sunny's head cracked during his annual Santa dress-up in 2013. His noggin was removed for repair, and was reattached in 2014.
