This 22-ft. tall Muffler Man stands on an elevated platform along Main Street where he has drawn attention to local businesses since the 1960s.
He is a master of disguise, with a more extensive wardrobe than most of his statue brethren. The "big man" has been known to dress as Santa at Christmas, don a tuxedo during prom season, a cap and bat during baseball season, and support US troops with various flag displays.
The statue stood for years on a platform atop the Western Tire & Appliance store on East Main St., promoted with the line: "The store with the big man on top." When it closed in late 2004, the M-Man was sold and transported to Sun Glass down Main St. He was renamed in a contest: "Sunny the Big Man."
