Flint, Michigan - Crossroads Village - Huckleberry Railroad Train Robberies

For a full summer I worked as an actor-"trainrobber" for Flint's Crossroad Village and Huckleberry Railroad. It is a period town set on the outskirts of Flint, Michigan that features period buildings relocated from their original towns and collected on a red clay "main street." It's run by Flint City Parks and Recreation.

The park includes a steam locomotive that takes circular tours on a regular calendar during the summer tourist season, and evening Ghost Train and Christmas train trips in the fall and winter. During the season there are docents and re-enactors present at the park, usually a vaudeville show in the opera house, a lovely chapel which has been rented for period weddings, and at least once each summer there is a civil war era re-enactors camping weekend.

Entry admission is relatively inexpensive as parks go, and there's an ice cream shop, several candy/gift/souvenir shops, and ample picnic areas within the park. [Bill Saunders, 02/26/2005]
