Tiny Chapel

In response to Laramie 6/13, there are no satanists using this church -- why would they? Are you trying to lessen the use of the chapel? It is a place for a few people to go to when they wish to pray, to God, for a loved one. Simple as that. I have gone there to write messages to loved ones who have passed, or to sit in silent contemplation. In all my years living a few miles from the church, and there have been many, I have never, until Laramie's post, heard about satanists. A grain of salt, and a little local education before posting. Tiny Chapel

The church is kept open all the time. When you walk in, if you open the door all the way, church music starts playing. It's a cute little out-of-the-way oddity. [Tiffany, 06/21/2011]
Tiny Chapel

I've visited the Tiny Chapel many times, and as a teenager I know that this is a very popular attraction for kids around Ardmore/Dickson. There are several "ghost stories" behind this chapel, but none of them are true, but it is also said that local satanists meet and do rituals there in the night. It is very nice though, aside from the candles laying here and there. I recommend to go during daylight -- it is less creepy and you can see better; there are no lights around it. When you step inside the very small foyer, there's a guest book for visitors to sign. You can enter the chapel, close and lock the door behind you, at which time lights turn on, a hymn plays and a fan circulates the air...and when we visited it was 108 degrees.

I was amazed at the lack of respect for the efforts this father made to honor his sons...cigarette butts on the ground. If I wasn't handicapped I would have picked them up. Maybe you will do that when you visit this chapel. [Susan St. John, 08/24/2006]

Tiny Chapel

More information on Ardmore's Tiny Chapel for your Small Churches section. I live a mile from Tiny Chapel, and for years attended church with the man who built it. It is a memorial to his sons, all of whom predeceased him. When you walk in the front door, you enter a tiny one person-sized lobby. When you close the door behind you, music begins to play. The interior has a center aisle with two sets of single person pews which leads to an altar with an open bible. It is quite famous in our area and the guest book includes names from states as far away as South Carolina and Oregon. [Cathy Gardner, 04/04/2004]
