Blue Whale

I always visit the Blue Whale when I am traveling near Catoosa. It has been several years since my last trip, and I was excited to find the gift shop open and a sign (new to me) with distances to towns on Route 66.

The whale is very bright and fun to explore. This was my second visit, and the first time I had seen the gift shop. It's so fun to climb up into the second story of the whale. It makes me feel like a kid again!

The Whale was in good shape and the gift shop was open when we stopped by in March. It is funny how things change -- my daughter asked where the safety rails were. I said that when this was new, people just figured you weren't stupid enough to fall off, but you could jump!

No more swimming, but the lady in the gift shop was very nice and had great information about the location along with postcards and key chains for sale. Super kitschy free stop!

The Blue Whale has a great little souvenir shop with great history. This place was an amazing stop for the kids.

We stopped on a Wednesday afternoon and there were three food trucks operating and the gift shop was open. Tacos and tamales were great -- we picnicked by the whale.
