Golf Ball House

"Area 66" is now open in the Golf Ball House. We toured it at the geezer rate of $5 each. It was worth it to check out the building and see some interesting video and exhibits.

We pulled off the freeway to get a closer view. There's a convenience store, "Area 66," located there. You cannot tour the house, as it is a private residence, but was worth the short drive off of the freeway to get a better view. Maybe a mile off and a mile back on. It was not far.

We stopped late in the day. We were the only visitors there. Nice view. Great stop to stretch your legs and explore. As you leave there are three signs, one motel and two gas stations, to take pictures of. Along the dirt road right before the freeway entrance to the right there is a Chrysler Proving Grounds.

I was worried that the Golf Ball House would be hard to find, as I couldn't easily spot it on Google Maps. But it's right there, very viewable from I-40 at exit 25.
