Bridal Cave

Bridal Cave has been the scene of over 3,000 weddings in the underground Bridal Chapel. Couples have come form almost every state in the U.S. and seven foreign countries.

A unique feature of the Bridal Cave gift shop are the big yearbooks that list the names of every couple that've been married underground here.

Bridal Cave

Bridal Cave holds the record for the most underground weddings -- over 1,945 since the first nether nuptials in 1949. They are performed by a minister in a chamber known as the "Bridal Chapel," in front of the cave's "Pipe Organ" formation. The organ music is pre-recorded. As part of the wedding package ($400-$500), the bride and groom receive lifetime passes to the cave. A valid Missouri marriage license is required for all weddings. Weddings in the cave are public, and open to tourist shutterbugs who have paid for admission to the cave.

Bridal Cave has another odd claim to fame: an "Underground Opinion Poll" that predicted the winner of the US Presidential elections with 100% accuracy since 1968. Visitors exiting the tour drop their ticket stubs into ballot boxes. In October 2004, the Bush/Cheney ticket cornered 60% of the cave tour vote and won the election.

Update: In 2008 the poll finally pooped out, predicting a McCain/Palin victory of 58%.
