Hinton, West Virginia: Big White Teddy Bear on Cliff

Of unknown purpose and origin. We're not even sure how big it is, but it's big enough to be strange. Other lawn art oddities on the property.

Teddy Bear on Cliff

I have spent a decent amount of time in this small town, have driven by and smiled each time I see this bear. Not only does this quiet older gentlemen own the bear, but he has a great old stock race car mounted in a tree and a plethora of homemade whimsical lawn art.

I have wanted to stop and speak with him each time I was in town, but I'm shy. He is almost always out, cutting the giant pile of logs in his yard. Hopefully one day we will remember him for his influence in bring a little smile to drivers' faces....he has for me on many occasions and one day I will thank him.

Big White Teddy Bear on Cliff

Drive-by sighting: We were on Hwy 3 eastbound to examine the John Henry Statue when we spotted this geologic incongruity on a cliff along the Greenbrier River. Perhaps 35 feet up the rock face -- it might have been 5 ft. tall. Below it and behind a hurricane fence was a private home and an assortment of other folksy decorations.
