Lowell, Nebraska - Boot Hill Cemetery

Off I-80 a short trip down the road from where I work and stay is a small town called Lowell. I'm not sure of the current population, although it is very small; a handful of houses and farmsteads. An official historical placard tells the story of Lowell, the railroad boomtown turned quiet village. While this was fun, I craved more and continued through the town to minimum maintenance dirt roads and practically drove past the large marker for a Boot Hill cemetery. The marker is next to the road in a pasture and features a large cement boot atop a gravestone-shaped plaque with a story of the pioneers killed in a crossfire and buried on the hilltop immediately behind the monument.
