Elysburg, Pennsylvania: World's Largest Baseball Bat

There are rivals to the Bat title, but this is the only one displayed next to a haunted house.

Largest lathed baseball bat.

World's Largest Baseball Bat

Turned on an antique steam powered lathe, this little gem claims to be the "World's Largest Baseball Bat." Since I've never seen another to compare, I can't say. It can be found at Knoebel's Amusement Resort in Elysburg, PA. Go into the park (free gate admission, so don't worry) and head for the Haunted House (a great attraction in its own right!). When standing facing the Haunted House, follow the path to its right past the end of the yellow haunted house building. Along the side of it between the house and the creek into Kiddie Land, you will find a Kettle Corn stand, and then a display of antique steam equipment, including the lathe that this was turned on. To the left, hanging on the fence of this exhibit, is a sign and the bat.

If you follow the path farther on, on the right is a wagon with a cover built over it that holds a 200 year old log. Other sights like working steam tractors and other "lumber wonders" (including lots of chainsaw carvings) are found nearby.

In a universe which also contains this, perhaps Knoebel's claim should be "World's Largest Baseball Bat Turned on a Lathe." And it still may be bested by other big bats -- we saw another "World's Largest Baseball Bat" at Baltimore's American Dime Museum last week. Sept. 2013: Photo added.
