Possibly the world's largest ball of twine rolled by one man: James Frank Kotera, from 1979 to 2022. Weighs over 12 tons. After his death the ball was moved from his back yard to this spot.

We visited JFK on 7-17-17. He was just as gracious as others described. The twine ball is now 10 feet tall and weighs 22,670 pounds.

The ball of twine is housed under a roof next to a normal-looking grey house. The locals we talked to said that the artist really appreciates when visitors stop by.

I talked with JFK, and he said that "Junior" is also made of twine. It's 47 pounds. He said that he stopped at 47 pounds because he was born on February 2, 1947. I also brought a bag with twine in it, which he graciously accepted as a contribution to the ball -- and traded me a piece of his.

We found JFK's Twine Ball worth the short side trip from Hwy 53. It is located on paved roads - a big plus and easy to find. I must admit, it certainly was the biggest ball of twine I have ever seen.
[D Kern, 08/31/2010]When I visited the JFK Twine Ball on June 5, 2009, I was very excited to find that JFK was home and outside working in his yard when I arrived. He introduced himself and informed us that the twine ball is now up to 19,920 pounds. Twine ball junior is 47 pounds. He also handed me a hand-written 6 page document with information about himself and the twine ball as we were leaving.

- This is in Highland Township in northern Wisconsin, not the town of Highland in southern Wisconsin. From US-2 in Brule turn south (no stoplight) onto WI-27. Follow WI-27 south 10 miles. Turn right, west (no stoplight) onto County Rd S. Follow County Rd S for four miles. The twine ball will be on the right. Pull into the transfer station, just before Highland Town Hall.
