Harrisburg, Pennsylvania: Don't Make the Trip

Sometimes a Postcard isn't worth the trip: Just wanted to update you if you haven't been already on the Inn at Blue Mountian in Harrisburg. It has become a very nice golf, tennis, relaxation spa, retreat, resort with some beautiful gardens, etc. I went looking for the Inn at Blue Mountain and did not find what was pictured in your book. I thought others might want to know before they made the trip. [David Morris, 12/06/1998]

[RA: Renovated...are they crazy? This was part of our "Sometimes a Postcard Is Worth The Trip" section. The Inn had a room of animal heads, in the center of which were two big stuffed bears -- a Giant Kodiak ("one of the largest ever seen by man." weight aproximately 1,500 lbs.) and a Polar Bear ("World's Record Class," 1,200 pounds). There were GREAT POSTCARDS of girls in bathing suit posing separately, and girls in bunny ears posing together with the bears.]
