Chloe, West Virginia - Grave of Mike Fink

On Rt 16 south of Arnoldsburg WV, near the sleepy little village of Chloe, there is a roadside marker which points travelers to the grave of legendary mountain man Mike Fink a short distance away. Mike Fink and an Indian (unnamed) killed each other a hundred or more years ago and are buried here side by side. Their graves recently got a new headstone, according to our local newspaper. When we were kids, folks would say Mike Fink's ghost would talk to you. Just go up to the grave and say "Whatcha doin' Mike Fink?" and he'll answer -- nothing. [L. Sams, 08/30/2005]
