Scranton, Pennsylvania - Labor Leader Monument In its downtown area less then 7 blocks from Steamtown National Park (Railroad Museum), is the courthouse square. One of its monuments is dedicated to John Mitchell, labor leader to the American Coal Miners. This is the
only monument in the country dedicated to a labor leader. Scranton also has a coal mine tour, in which you travel in to an actual coal mine. You can even travel route 307 (Moosic Street) which is mentioned by Harry Chapin's song "30,000 lbs. of Bananas."
