Haleiwa, Hawaii - Maui Pohaki Loa Toth Statue

Just one of 50+ statues carved out of standing trees by Peter "Wolf" Toth, an artist living in Florida. He has created one of these (sometimes 2-3) in each and every state in the United States. We have begun searching for them when we travel, and have located three so far. They are huge, life-like statues of the Native Americans indigenous to the the area in which they are created. All carry the wise, time-worn faces of our original Americans.

We understand Pater Toth returns to each of these as requested by the locations to refurbish them when necessary. They are breathtaking! [Lynne Ennis, 10/24/2005]
