[Dylan, 11/06/2011]The Large Head of John Muir has been moved to the SW corner of 198 & 99. Almost inaccessible at this time, though visible. Must be approached via 198 eastbound and take exit before 99 - ride access road. Located next to the Wood Industries Company.
[David Meznarich, 08/06/2010]Giant John Muir Head lives! He gazes roughly in the direction of Sequoia National Park from his post at the intersection of Avenue 296 (CA 198 - go figure) and CA 99 near Visalia, California. He's right there at the exit -- jammed into the southwest corner. I almost drove off the road as I witnessed such rugged majesty! And don't kid yourself - he is LARGE. I'm talking LARGE! Yeah!

Large John Muir Head This giant chainsaw carved bust of John Muir is visible from highway 99 just outside of Visalia. He watches over large piles of wood by-products and seems to know you tossed those glass bottles yesterday rather than recycling. But I'm sure he is a forgiving carving.
