Voted "Steel Tank of the Year" in 1981, the Peachoid has been scrupulously maintained by its fruit-happy town.

From the south it looks like a delicious peach. We couldn't figure out why people called it "the butt in the sky." Then we went around to the other side, which quickly replaced that mystery with another: what led this town to build something that looks like a giant butt in the sky?

Peachoid - A Different Viewpoint

This photo was taken on Thursday, April 11, 2002, (obviously) of the Gaffney, South Carolina peach/water tower. A branch of the Fatz Cafe restaurant chain has been built right in its shadow. Personally I'm torn between disappointment that the pristine view of the peach has been disrupted, and the thrill of eating really good garlic bread while I look at it.

North side of I-85 between exits 90 and 92. A service road runs between the two exits. You can get close, but not too close; a gate blocks the private road leading to the Peachoid.
