Musical Journey of Meredith Willson.

The Music Man Square

A full museum about the life and career of Meredith Willson, and a mod street from River City with a Disney-level attention to detail. The house next door has guided tours. During Covid-19, open by appointment only, but the team of volunteers are passionate about the project, and this is absolutely worth seeing as a piece of Americana.

The Music Man Square

A beautiful museum showcases the history of the Music Man movie as well as famous composer Meredith Willson. You get a tour of his boyhood home and a tour of the museum inside. There is ice cream and shops on site as well.

The volunteers were so nice and I was the only visitor they had for the day. Park at the library next door; there's also limited parking in front of building.

The Meredith Willson gravesite is not far away.

The Music Man Square

The Music Man "square" is all inside a building. Looks cute. Closed on Mondays. The library across the street has bronze statues to see as well. Parking in library parking lot.

The Music Man Square

The Music Man Square in Mason City, is dedicated to Meredith Willson, the creator of the play and movie The Music Man. Mason City was Mr. Willson's home town. The streetscape is an exact duplicate of the street scene from the movie. The museum is full of musical history and Mr. Willson's boyhood home is right next door. I am a volunteer at the Square and help people learn more about Mr. Willson and his home town.

Something special for the parents of the "Greatest Generation" (when they come out of cryostasis). Music Man Square is indoors, and in photos seems along the lines of the cheery/eerie faux thoroughfares of Precious Moments, and Jordan's Furniture.
