Visitor Tips and News About Large Hot Dog Topped With Fries
This isn't a kielbasa sandwich, despite the Roadside America entry name. It's actually a Chicago hot dog topped with french fries, often called a "depression dog." During the Great Depression, there were spins on the popular Chicago hot dog including a stripped-down version that dropped the tomatoes, pickle, and celery salt and placed the fries right on top. This sign features a giant version of this hot dog.[Barry, 02/03/2017]

Large Kielbasa Sandwich
A giant, french-fry topped Italian Sausage sandwich adorns the sign to Henry's ("It's a Meal in Itself") in the northern reaches of Burbank, Illinois. The roadside eatery dates back to the 1950's when it used to be a drive-thru. Upon seeing the giant sausage sandwich, we had to stop and eat there. The lunchtime crowd was pretty thick inside, but the featured sandwich was a little bit of heaven.[Josh Shepherd, 02/19/2006]
