Skeleton Horses and Other Charms of Guffey The entire town of Guffey Colorado is worth the drive. One of the first things to catch your eye are two horse skeletons hitched to an old prison wagon, complete with a scarecrow convict. Just a bit down the main street is an interesting curio shop with a collection of cast iron bath tubs.
If you are looking to spend the night, Guffey has many interesting accommodations, including one called the Hog Barn. It IS actually a converted hog barn.
If you are lucky enough to get there on the 4th of July, you can take part in the Chicken Fly. Entrants take their chicken up on a raised platform, load them into a mail box, then shoot them out with a toilet plunger. Farthest flight wins! If you came unprepared, the residents of Guffey will rent you a chicken for the day. All this activity is presided over by the towns duly elected mayor, a rather large cat!
