Giant Statue of Sam Houston Visit the center -- lots of great info. There is a couple who work there who have been married 64 years. They are a wealth of information. Nice paths, vending machines, nice gift shop and clean restrooms.
[Kim, 10/10/2010]If you drive by this and have time, exit and go back to the statue visitor center. There's the usual gift shop, but you can also walk up to the base to get a true perspective of how big this thing really is. There is also the front half of an extra face of Sam at ground level so you can see the construction -- my 9 year old was fascinated...
