My girlfriend just drove by this on the way back to Brandon, Manitoba. She claims the saloon appeared open. Hope she is correct. I very much enjoyed childhood visits to this place! Excellent mini golf course, very challenging. Restaurant used to serve wonderful bison burgers.
[Shane, 08/20/2012]I drove past Gopherville in July 2007 and again in April 2008 and I'm afraid the place is closed. Infrastructure very neglected. It looks like they went bankrupt.
[Tony Baynton, 09/01/2009]This is a wacky miniature wild west town outside of Langenburg, Saskatchewan, near the Manitoba border. The catch is, they've stuffed a bunch of gophers and dressed them up in little outfits (sheriff, etc.).
From what I read, there's a miniature train, the world's largest bike (44 riders, 85 feet long), and a Santa store. Some other research shows it was still open as recently as 2005 (Saskatchewan's centennial). I still prize my postcard and bumpersticker from Gopherville.
