- Southwest edge of Fort Worth. I-20 exit 429 onto US 337/Benbrook Blvd. South a little over a mile, then left onto Sproles Drive. Third left onto Vernon Castle Ave. The monument is in front of the big water tank.

Vernon Castle Airplane Crash Site Memorial
The memorial marks the spot where Vernon Castle's plane crashed in 1918. Vernon Castle was a nightclub dancer who performed in silent movies. He was also a pilot in World War I. Vernon died on Feb 15, 1918, while a flight instructor at Camp Benbrook. It takes about 10 minutes to read the info on the roadside memorial.
Wouldn't go out of my way to see, but if in Ft. Worth it's kind of interesting....
