On Waxahachie Courthouse, a women's most private part of her body is sculpted on the south side of the courthouse, midway. It's too cool that Italian sculptor Harry Herley was so in love with Waxahachie women Mabel Frame that he displayed her in stone forever for the world to see. It's kinda funny how long it has taken for this (FULL story) to finally get noticed. I lived in Waxahachie for over 25 years and my father was publisher of the Waxahachie Daily Light. I was Miss Waxahachie of 1976.
[DC Wright, 01/25/2012]In Waxahachie you will find the county court house for Ellis county. It is a beautiful structure, that is said to be the most photographed court house in Texas. You will find carved in the stone the face of a young girl, sort of mythological looking. As you follow the faces around the court house exterior you will find they get more destroyed. Almost evil looking. It is said that the man who carved them in the last 1800's was an Italian sculpture, he reportedly fell in love with a young girls from the town but she rejected his love. The faces were suppose to be her. As the love soured he made the faces show his ill feelings for her. . Each face gets a little bit uglier than the last. Very strange.
