Scrap Metal Fossils
I think this is a 5 [Smiley Water Tower] stop! And it's right on the road. and with kids, even worth going out of the way.
[Fritz Crawford, 04/07/2022]Scrap Metal Fossils
We were driving to Capitol Reef from Goblin Valley State Park and stopped by. I talked to some of the folks who live in the building that the "fossils" are on, who said that a new person had taken on rehabbing them (the person who first built them passed away some time ago). They are spruced up quite a bit and have a lot of spiritual accoutrements -- seemingly Buddhist, although I'm not sure.
There's a sign for a suggested 25 cent donation, but no donation box, so I left a few quarters on a nearby ledge.

[William Haun, 12/21/2010]Desert Inn Motel Scrap Metal Fossils
In the little "town" of Hanksville, UT, there is an abandoned hotel on the main strip which boasts about 5-10 scrap metal "fossils." All look like animals you would see in museums, but made of pieces of scrap metal and painted white.
