Winchendon, Massachusetts - Toy Town Horse

Large, handmade wooden horse, created to commemorate the toy factories in Winchendon,MA, in years gone by. In 1912, Converse Toy Company President Morton Converse had a man design a replica of their #12 rocking horse - but 4 times larger. The horse was moved and rebuilt in 1962, and has been 'facelifted' since. The horse is named Clyde and is now located on land in front of the Colonial Cooperative Bank. [Jennifer Whitaker, 07/09/2006]

[RA: Clyde II, the 1988 version of the rocking horse, is on display under a wooden gazebo. ]
