Huey Long's Assassination Bullet Holes In the Louisiana state capitol building, if you walk around the elevators to the Governor's office door at the rear of the building, you can see the multiple bullet holes in the marble wall where Huey P. Long was shot. In 1935, as the Senator was walking to the Senate chamber, Dr. Carl Weiss stepped out from behind the pillar and shot him in the abdomen. Huey's body guards fired about 48 slugs into Dr. Weiss. Put your finger in a couple of bullet holes for some hands-on history!
