Warrenton, Virginia: Spring Man and Other Sights

The "spring man" with the goofy smile is actually north of Warrenton, on the west side of U.S. 29 just south of Gainesville,VA (heading south from I-66 towards Warrenton)

The giant rollerskate on U.S. 17 between Warrenton and Fredericksburg belongs to Hugo's Skate Club, a dance hall in the unincorporated hamlet of Lois,VA (although still in Fauquier County). The Flying Circus airshow is fairly close to Hugo's, and is a popular summer destination for fans of old-time aircraft, which can be seen on Sunday afternoons.

Also, the giant bear on the roof of the gun shop belongs to Clark Brothers, which is located on the west side of U.S. 29 just before the U.S. 29/ U.S 17 intersection in Opal, about 6 miles south of Warrenton. [Brian M. Hight, 04/09/2000]

Just south of Warrenton on Rt. 29 off of the west side of the road sits an intriguing and funky sculpture of a human figure. It appears to be made mostly out of scrap metal and car parts, and has long, spindly limbs. I think it wears a giddy smile. I haven't seen this thing in a while, and hope it's still there!
