Giant Roller Skate
The current photo of the Giant Roller Skate on RoadsideAmerica.com was taken in 1988 with our kids posing in front of the attraction. Recently, we stopped by with our grandkids, so we could pass the joy onto another generation. We noticed that the original "real" shoe lace and eyelets were removed and replaced with painted-on versions.
[Glenn and Rebecca Brown, 09/12/2007]The giant roller skate is still there, despite a change in management, although it is beginning to look the worse for wear, showing considerable paint cracking along at least one side.
[Jim Heverin, 01/13/2006]Giant Rollerskate
I visited the "Giant Rollerskate of Morrisville" on a recent business trip. The rollerskate is located outside of Hugo's Country Dancing (also, apparently, a place where one can rollerskate on Friday and Saturday nights). The skate is made out of wood and is somewhere between 7 and 9 feet tall and is painted white with red wheels and "Hugo's" logo.
[Greg Brown, 08/09/2001]There is another giant rollerskate on Route 17, halfway between Fredricksburg and Warrenton, VA.
