Floating Bridge

I recently went to the floating bridge in Randolph VT, and you are no longer allowed to drive on it, it is closed off. It IS fun to jump off of into the water. I would like to call it the sinking bridge now because there is water covering the middle :o)

Floating Bridge

In Vermont, outside of Randolph, 11 miles away in the "town" of Brookfield, is a true floating bridge! I have visited it a few times, making day trips with my Harley club, the Northeast Mystery Riders. As you drive on it, the bridge sinks enough that your tires will actually be in the water for the entire span! Of course not on a motorcycle 'cause they are lighter. One word of advice if you DO go on two wheels: It is EXTREMELY SLICK on the wood surface due to moss and whatever else grows there.

Take exit 4 off I-89. Take Rt.66 E. about two miles to Ridge Road (It is a fork at which Ridge Road is almost straight ahead and Rt. 66 makes a sharp right). In 6 or so miles you'll come to a stop sign. Turn left onto Rt. 65, which in a few hundred feet turns left onto the bridge.
