After years of fruitless wish-list yearning, the Christmas Story House now displays an actual "official Red Ryder carbine action, 200-shot, range model air rifle with a compass in the stock and this thing that tells time" used by Ralphie in the movie.
The BB gun, as described, never actually existed, so six were made as props for the film. One was given to star Peter Billingsley (who still has it along with his pink bunny suit) and one went to the film's production manager, who put it up for auction in 2015. Christmas Story House owner Brian Jones bought it for $10,000, and now has added it to the permanent exhibit in the Christmas Story House Museum.
No amount of cash, however, can buy one of the film's three original Lady Leg Lamps; they were all destroyed during production.

As an avid fan and watcher of the movie every Christmas since it was released, I loved it. A very special thank you to Jim Moralevitz for his Leg Lady Shrine -- it was the perfect tribute and I was glad to see it. Worth it, worth it, worth it!

The 1983 movie "A Christmas Story" was filmed in this neighborhood. This house was the home of the main character, Ralphie, who wanted a BB gun for Christmas. More importantly, it served as the window setting for the famous "Leg Lamp," a shapely leg in fishnet stockings and a high heel topped off with a fringed lampshade. The house has been restored and is open for tours; a museum is located across the street.
