Town of Metal People We pulled into Raymond, WA, early Sunday evening, looking for a motel for the night. The town was nearly deserted. There was no one on the streets, and only the manager and his dog at the motel. What we did find, though, were dozens of metal sculptures of people and animals on the main drag (Hwy 101) and the road to Menlo.
We kept the door locked and left early next morning. [Michael Sussman, 08/09/2007]
[RA: The metal people aren't nearly as impressive when real people are around, but they are still a substantial part of Raymond's population.]
Flat Metal Sculptures A collection of roadside sculptures running for about 6 miles North and South along Highway 101 at Raymond , WA. The statues are flat metal pieces consisting of groups of animals and people spaced along the land adjacent to the highway. Pretty impressive sight and monumental work of art. Raymond is located on the west side of the Olympic Peninsula. [Tom Tierney, 01/17/2000]
