They've put up a fence. We only saw one prairie dog, but it was pretty hot out.

Prairie Dog Preserve

This prairie dog preserve is the field in the front yard of the Celestial Seasonings factory (the tea company). It has signs explaining the that it's a "Prairie Park" and asking people to have their dogs refrain from chasing the prairie dogs.

History: In spring of 1999. Celestial Seasonings was caught poisoning prairie dogs on its property during the night (Prairie dog removal is controversial in Boulder. You now have to make an honest effort to "move" the colony live, rather than euthanize them when developing property). Rocky Mountain Animal Defense announced a boycott of Celestial's products when this happened. They met with the company and lifted the boycott when they reached an agreement with Celestial Seasonings to provide permanent protection for this 15-20 acre field that represents one-third of the remaining privately held prairie dog colonies in Boulder.
