Despite its 19th century appearance, this log cabin was built in the 1970s to house governor Jay Hammond, after he suggested that he would live there until Alaska's state capitol was moved to that spot. It wasn't.

Cabin Could've Been the Capitol
Right next to the Dorothy Page Museum are a lot of cabins. This one was used in the first effort to move Alaska's capital to Willow. You can still cast mock votes inside the cabin.
Around June is the best time to see the inside of the cabins and historic houses.
