Russell, Illinois: Russell Military Museum
Back yard battle cast-offs fill a museum and adjacent lot. A mashup of military gear, more for the equipment geek than the historian, which is fine by us. Also here: some NASA relics.

The military museum has either closed or been relocated. All the hardware was removed from the former site on the west access road. You can see some of the moved military hardware from I-94, which is now in a fenced-in parking lot just north of the Russell Road exit.
[Paul, 11/04/2006]While looking at your site I came across an attraction you have listed as Front Lawn Armory in Kenosha Wisconsin. You may like to correct the name as it is actually called the Kenosha Military Museum and is the home for collectors of military vehicles. It is just off I-94 at 10700 120th Ave Kenosha just south of Highway 165. I found it to be quite interesting, but then again I like military museums, even unusual ones like this.
[Philip Moss, 11/28/1999]Several years ago when I lived in Chicago the local PBS station's "crazy places to visit" show (Wild Chicago) visited the Army Surplus Museum close to Kenosha, WI. They even had the host of the program drive the tank over a wrecked car the museum owner kept on hand for visitors.
[Kirby Bartlett-Sloan, 01/17/1999]Near I-94 in Wisconsin just south of Kenosha a guy has accumulated a "museum" of LARGE surplus military equipment. We're not talking boots and fashionable camouflage outerwear, he has everything from battle tanks to attack helicopters sitting on his front lawn. Most pieces are visible from the frontage road on the west side of the highway (directly across I-94 from Lakeside Marketplace), but for a nominal fee he'll give you the grand tour. Better yet, if you happen to have some strange need for this equipment -- most pieces are for sale, price negotiable.
