Delaware Copper Mine Tours
An authentic copper mine that operated from 1847 to 1887, visitors descend 100 feet down a sloping shaft to the first level of the mine to see how copper was mined during the country's first major mining boom. The mine has been left virtually untouched since its 1887 closure.
The site also features animals, antique engines, trains ranging from G Scale to 7 1/2" gauge, mine ruins, walking trails, and picnic facilities. All tours are self-guided, allowing the visitor to take their time exploring their particular interests.
[Lani Poynter, 01/26/2007]A tour of an old copper mine. It's a lot of fun, especially when it's hot out because it's nice and cool in the mine. They have a "ghost" at the end of the tour...pretty spooky stuff! The area around Delware is great too; Copper Harbor, with Lake Superior all around it.
