Reedsburg, WI also has a large
black squirrel population. Legend has it that they were brought into the area by the Ringling Brothers circus, which had its winter headquarters in nearby Baraboo. Black squirrels can also be seen in Baraboo but not to the same extent as in Reedsburg. Neither community practices "squirrel eugenics"! Reedsburg has a bar named the
Black Squirrel Lounge in honor of our local rodent residents.
