[Melissa, 10/07/2015]This is not the statue of Pocahontas - it is a statue of Minnehaha, the wife of Hiawatha. Read Longfellow's poem, "The Song of Hiawatha" to read their story.
The statue has been in Elkins for many years, at least since the 1980s. It was damaged when someone shot off the head with a rifle in the mid 1980s, but was repaired.
